NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

AUGUST 6, 2025 - AUGUST 14, 2025

Welcome Class of 2028 & Class of 2029

🎓 Congratulations, Everyone! 🎉

Congratulations and welcome to UDC Law! You’ve put in so much hard work to get here, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you into our close-knit, mission-driven community. This is the start of an incredible journey—one filled with challenges, growth, and the opportunity to make a real impact. You are now part of a legacy of passionate advocates and changemakers, and we can’t wait to see the mark you’ll leave on the world.

As you prepare for this next chapter, we want to introduce you to a resource that will be your go-to throughout law school: the Student Portal. This will be your gateway to orientation, where you'll find all the important details to help you get started. But it doesn’t stop there—this portal will be here for you throughout your entire law school experience, keeping you connected to key updates, resources, and opportunities to help you succeed. We encourage you to check it often and make it part of your routine. Once again, welcome to UDC Law—we’re so happy to have you here and can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!

  • It is strongly recommended as not to delay your disbursement. If you are receiving scholarship money and/or are expecting to borrow loans in order to pay for law school, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  In order to achieve the smoothest results and avoid processing delays, it is extremely important that you complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA and submit that information to David A. Clarke School of Law.  If you have not completed a FAFSA yet, please do so as quickly as possible (see www.fafsa.ed.gov).  The School of Law’s FAFSA code isnotthe same code used by the University.  Additional financial aid information will be sent to you over the course of the summer.  In the meantime, financial aid questions should be directed to the law school’s financial aid office at lawfinancialaid@udc.edu.

  • The New Student Checklist is your way to keep track of all the tasks you need to do before classes begin! It's a Web-based tool in your portal, and lists everything from accessing myUDC to completing your health insurance waiver.

  • Yes! These assignments carry over into your actual law school courses.

  • No. You are required to have a complete and accurate law school application that provides disclosure of any legal violations, college or law school disciplinary matters or similar issues, including any that may have occurred after the time you submitted your UDC Law application and throughout your enrollment.  If an inconsistency exists between information obtained by the bar examiners on your law school admission application, that inconsistency could potentially impact your admission to the bar.
